West Sound Utility Construction

Excavation & directional drilling across the San Juan Islands.

We install utility lines with specialized directional drilling equipment, so less of your property gets dug up.

Why Directional Drilling

Utilities in the ground without tearing it up.

Open trenching through island properties is slow and messy. It means rock, roots, driveways, gardens and shoreline buffers. Directional drilling bores underneath them and pulls utility piping through on a planned path, so the surface above stays almost untouched.

West Sound Utility Construction is the excavation and utility arm of Torma Construction LLC. We bring the drilling equipment, the experience and the planning that island sites need.

  • Less surface disturbance to lawns, landscaping and hardscape
  • Bores under driveways, roads, trees and sensitive areas
  • Faster restoration and cleaner sites
  • Planned around island access and logistics

06

Project coordination

We coordinate with your builder, utility providers and designers so the groundwork fits the rest of the project.

Our Process

From site walk to finished run.

Step 1

Walk the site

We look at the ground, access, existing utilities and where your lines need to go.

Step 2

Plan the path

We map the bore or trench route and give you a clear scope and timeline.

Step 3

Drill, place & restore

We complete the work, place the piping and leave the site clean.

Common Questions

Good to know.

Where do you work?

We work throughout the San Juan Islands. Tell us where your property is and we will talk through access and scheduling.

Is directional drilling right for my property?

Usually, if a line has to cross a driveway, landscaping, tree roots or other things you want left alone. Some short runs are simpler to trench. We will recommend whichever fits your site best.

Do you work with my builder or other trades?

Yes. We regularly coordinate with general contractors, homeowners, designers and utility providers so the groundwork fits the rest of the project.

How do I get an estimate?

Send us a note through the contact page with your location and a short description of the work. Brian will follow up to talk through the details.

Need a utility line run?

Tell us where it starts, where it needs to go and what is in the way.
