Island ground, built right from the ground up.
Torma Construction runs excavation, utility work and natural building materials for island homeowners and hospitality projects. It is owned and run by Brian Torma, who has more than 30 years in the trade.
One contractor, two specialties.
Building on an island means doing more with less. Rock, shoreline, ferry schedules and tight sites all make it harder. We handle both the work underground and the materials that go into your walls.

Excavation & Directional Drilling
We use specialized directional drilling equipment to run water, power and communications lines across the islands. That means less trenching, less disruption and less damage to your landscape.

We know the islands
Rocky ground, shoreline setbacks, ferry logistics and tight access are part of every job here. We plan for them from the first walk-through.
Light on the land
Directional drilling and careful excavation keep trees, gardens and driveways intact wherever possible.
Materials that matter
As farmers and builders, we look at the whole life of a material, from field to finished wall.
Straight answers
You get clear scopes, honest timelines and direct contact with the owner.
Homes & hospitality
We work with homeowners on a single build and with inns and lodges planning bigger projects.
Veteran-owned
Brian brings the standards he learned in the U.S. Air Force to every job: show up prepared and finish what you start.
Materials chosen for the earth and the people living inside.
Torma Construction started working with hempcrete in 2018, and the natural building side has grown from there. We work with Orcas Island natural interior designer Whitney Page to help homeowners and hospitality businesses choose materials that are healthy, durable and beautiful.
